* Hotels are experiencing what many believe to be effects from pent-up travel demand: During the first quarter of 2010, lodging demand increased 5.3% over the same period in 2009.
* Last-minute travel deals are appealing to U.S. travelers: Nearly 15% of active travelers report buying a last-minute leisure travel service as the result of an e-mail offering deals requiring immediate booking.
* The recession had a notable impact on luxury hotels: Occupancy at U.S. luxury hotels totaled 62.2% in 2009, down 10.4 percent.
