* To further distinguish themselves, some florists are specializing in certain areas of floral design or combining floral design with event planning and interior design services.
* Organic and Fair Trade-certified flowers are in demand among consumers.
* Spending on wedding flowers has dropped in recent years(the biggest decrease was for corsages/boutonnieres), but reception flowers have experienced spending increases).
Branded Entertainment Channel to Surpass Average 2010 Ad Growth
Marketers continue to turn to new channels to promote their products and services. One rapidly growing channel in the past 2 decades has been entertainment marketing spending. This group broadly includes event sponsorships and marketing and paid product placement. The channel generated $24.63 billion in 2009, a figure which represented a small drop (1.3%) from the previous year. However, PQ Media analysts expect growth to resume in 2010.
Marketers Emphasize Product Innovation to Boost Sales
The news of the economic recovery has many business owners double-checking their sales figures. Revenues may not be as high as they’d expect at this point in the typical resurgence following a recession. That may be because this recession was longer and deeper than most recent downturns. Or the slow recovery may be linked to fundamental changes in consumer behavior. Either way, marketers are finding they have to change how they position themselves in order to boost sales.

* There are an estimated 40,000 caregivers across the country, of which 75% work outside the home. As Baby Boomers’ parents age, the number of caregivers is expected to grow rapidly, creating even more demand for these services.
* A quarter of caregivers, a target market for adult day care centers, report using the Internet and print media as sources of caregiving information. Of those that do, they most commonly seek information regarding care services (53%) and information about care facilities (40%).
* An emerging trend in the industry is catering specifically to niche markets. There’s an increase in centers that are faith-based or market to specific groups, such as veterans.
