- Manufacturers may begin crafting and marketing more boats under the $10,000 price point at boat shows in order to generate consumer interest and position the products as more affordable.
- Distributors believe that 2011 accessory sales will steadily improve. However, over half plan to maintain level inventory levels in 2011 while about 1/3rd will increase inventory of accessories. These intentions may challenge manufacturers who want to increase sales.
- Sales of new boats have plummeted since 2008 largely as a result of economic pressures. Consumers continue to cut spending on nonessential items and 2010 is expected to be another difficult year.
